What your donation supports

In 1971, a group of students from Brighton High School had an idea to create a "center" that would meet the needs specific to youth in Rochester, NY. The philosophy supporting the vision was quite radical for the time: that young people, given information and support, could make their own positive life choices. They founded The Center to be informed by youth, for youth. The Center for Youth continues with this as the core principle. They are committed to empowering and advocating for vulnerable youth while always elevating their voices. The mission is to provide comprehensive programs completely free, voluntary, and confidential.

The Center for Youth provides services for youth from age 1 week to 24-year-olds. The two locations on Monroe Avenue offer comprehensive programs and services including:

  1. Shelters, Housing, & Crisis Nurseries

  2. Youth Development Programs

  3. School-Based Prevention Programs

The Center faces another difficult year providing housing and socio-emotional support to our most vulnerable youth in our homeless shelters. We are engaging people like you to help us build a healthy lifestyle and a healthy community, together. To learn more about The Services, download this brochure
